Sypnosis[]

A Nightmare Come True:

As a member of the most powerful family history has ever known, thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill has been shot at, kidnapped, and even thrown into a pit with a deadly snake. He's survived it all due to luck, smarts, and his older sister, Amy, who always sticks by his side.

Now Dan and Amy are facing their greatest threat yet, an enemy who has found a way to use the source of the Cahill family power against them. To stop him, Dan and Amy must set out on a desperate mission that will take them from one of the world's hottest regions all the way to the frozen blast of the Arctic Circle. But with the enemy closing in, Dan finds himself facing the one terror he never imagined - being betrayed by his own sister.

Plot[]

00008

The story begins in London, with J Rutherford Pierce instructing 6 of his mercenaries to capture Amy and Dan, while "motivating" them by giving them poison in the form of candies and after promising them the antidote, he eats it after they leave.

In Rome, Amy is shocked by a newspaper article the provided false images of Cahills, damaging their reputation.

Nellie goes to Trilon Laboratories, Delaware under the alter identity of Mrs. Nadine Gormez, as undergrad from Harvard to try to help Sammy Mourad, who was kidnapped by Pierce to improve The Master Serum.

Amy feels that no one should be hurt because of her and decided to send Jake and Atticus back but Dan argues and Amy agrees to send them.

Message Board[]

On the book announcement post at the official Message Board, Jeff says quote "What is Breakaway about? Where does it take place? Well, as you know, it’s all pretty top secret so, hmm . . . what can I say? How about this: As we ratchet up the tension on those poor Cahill kids, characters are shot at, frozen stiff and nearly drowned. They also eat the most bizarre pizza known to man. Everything about writing this book was a ton of fun, but my favorite characters to write for have been Ian, Amy, and Nellie. (Seriously, Scholastic. If you ever want a standalone novel called Nellie Gomez: Secret Agent! I’m your man. Pretty please?)

Oh! One more thing. If you’re thinking there might be something hidden in the cover that will aid you in your online hunt, you’re right. Good luck finding it!
